HAWTHORN SCHOOL FOR GIRLS
Smaller School. Big Difference.
Hawthorn is the only independent, Catholic-inspired, all-girls school in Toronto, providing a “small-class experience”, where each girl is known, participates and flourishes in every aspect of school life.
In 1989, a group of parents and educators founded the school specifically for the purpose of educating the whole person. The founders dreamed of a school that would recognize parents as the first and most important educators in their children’s lives. They envisioned equal priority being given to the pursuit of academic excellence and the development of character.
Today, Hawthorn is part of an international network of similar schools, around the world, that provide an integral education.
“My husband and I are very pleased with Hawthorn school. The family atmosphere, the strong emphasis on character development and the rich curriculum are just a few of the schools’ strong points that we find most appealing about Hawthorn.”

“My years at Hawthorn were transformational in so many ways. It was here I truly found the love of learning. School wasn’t just about memorization and marks – it was a place of discussion, reflection, and making connections. The teachers, students, and staff created an environment where every student felt safe, loved, and confident. There were so many opportunities to participate in sports and extracurricular activities, so each girl was not only intelligent but also well-rounded.”

“It is fantastic to see the girls developing, now starting to draw connections and develop their critical thinking. So very, very important, and one of our goals for our daughters and their education at Hawthorn.”
